I agree, Paul, #4 is the only option. It is heartbreaking, what's going on over there. I thoroughly despise what Hamas has done (and is doing) but Israel's response is even more evil. The problem is that Israel's response is disproportionately violent considering their government's responsibility in the making of this mess and their greater strength and resources. Furthermore, the amount of civilian casualties and psychological suffering heaped upon the innocent non militant Gazans is obscene. It bewilders me that some Christians support the modern Israel no matter what while disregarding the essence of the Jesus message. Perhaps a better question to ask is what would Jesus have done?

Such a difficult situation. I dare not wade into the theological considerations you broach above without further thoughtfulness. I will simply say that Israel has every right to protect itself. I dare say if Belgium was launching 90+ rockets/day into the Netherlands there would be a response of some sort.
It seems that every time this happens (and I agree it happens too often) that Israel takes it on the chin for simply defending themselves. I hope they can all find a better way to solve an ancient disagreement.

Isn't it heart breaking that what you wrote about this situation two years ago remains relevant instead of there having been some kind of resolution or progress? I guess that rather than taking sides between Israel and Palestine we'd do better to take the side of the victims, the innocents ... the side of hope and peace.

Thanks for commenting, friends. Just like you guys, I don't have all the answers. It's a complicated situation and I agree with Cori - let's take sides with the vulnerable people on both sides. And let's not forget our fellow believers - Messianic Jews and Palestinian Christians - they both need our prayers and support. www.opendoors.org
