I agree! Survival of the fittest is strange and cruel... To eat or to be eaten, to beat or to be beaten. And predestination is very strange and cruel too... If God has already decided everything - what choices do we, simpel human beings, have? Maybe Darwin & Calvin are discussing these issues right now somewhere in God's Universe...
